About
Founded by interior designer Karin Kowalski, SE‐quence is a design practice based in Toronto, Canada.
With over 20 years of practise designing brand new spaces and renovating existing interiors SE‐quence has experience in various scales and types of both commercial and residential projects.
Our work involves interior restorations of condominiums, social housing, educational and healthcare facilities and single family buildings. Our services page offers a complete menu of what we do.
We maintain very open communication with our clients and their consultants. Being mindful of a project’s scope, time‐line, budget and available resources is always one of our top priorities when it comes to solving design problems competently and without delay.
Having designed offices, schools, retirement homes and long term care facilities, we have experience providing services for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. By making our work specific to each assignment and site, we carefully avoid branding ourselves with our designs. Our interior design studio is flexible, dynamic and able to handle multiple assignments.
Principles
UNDERSTANDING YOUR NEEDS: staying focused on a goal while exploring design options from the perspective of people who will actually use the spaces or products.
COLLABORATION: generating ideas and working through design problems together with clients, architects, engineers and builders for the benefit of the end users.
ORIGINALITY: pushing creative boundaries to produce solutions that are elegant yet highly practical.
Bio
Karin Kowalski ARIDO, IDC, NCIDQ
Early in life Karin was able to shadow her interior architect father at work, visiting his studio to look at drawings and scale models, accompanying him to construction sites, stone quarries, tapestry weaving studios and blacksmith shops.
Some of the things that left an impression on her was the degree of craftsmanship involved in every detail from start to finish. These formative experiences together with a formal education in art, design and technology helped her to achieve a unique, personal design philosophy, which is to design aesthetically appealing but practical interiors.
Karin understands that interiors are part of a bigger picture ‐ socially, environmentally and culturally ‐ and aims to make each design progressive, sensitive and relevant.
